HOLLAND — Holland Public Schools is asking its community to share their opinions on the district through an online survey.
Posted along with an introduction letter from new Superintendent Shanie Keelean, the survey is available on the district website and
asksresidents would never change about their school, what needs to chang the most in their school.
The district also is seeking volunteers to form a focus group,one of Keelean’s goals.

“I want to create focus groups of students, teachers, parents and community members to get some more insight,” Keelean told The Sentinel earlier this month. “It’s important for me, coming in as an outsider to a district that is well established with things in place, to listen and learn about the great work that is going on in the district.”
Summer reading events added
The district recently announced additional dates for its pop-in reading event series taking place this summer. Each event invites students prekindergarten through third grade and their siblings to stop by for a literacy activity, a free book, sidewalk chalk and bubbles.
Gatherings will be Mondays July 12, 19 and 26 and Aug. 2 and 9. Events will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at Jefferson Elementary, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Meadowlanes, 1 to 3 p.m. at Lincoln Estates and 2:30 to 3 p.m. at Calvary on Eighth.

There will be events Wednesdays, Aug. 4 and 11, as well. Students can stop by Holland West Elementary 9-9:45 a.m., Holland Language Academy 10:15-11 a.m. or Holland Heights 11:30 a.m.-12:15 a.m.
