Merkle Retires Aquila Analytics Brand

February 22 2021

CX and marketing company Merkle is retiring its Aquila analytics brand, marking the final step in the integration of a firm acquired in 2017.

Anne StaggEdinburgh, UK-based Aquila Insights grew rapidly after launching in 2012, doubling its turnover year on year until being snapped up by dentsu-owned Merkle in July 2017 for an undisclosed sum. Combined with Merkle’s existing customer analytics offering across EMEA, the division has again doubled in size since.

Merkle says the latest move is part of the complete integration of its digital and customer analytics capabilities across the EMEA region, as it brings CXM, data and analytics into the heart of all it does.

UK Chief Exec Anne Stagg (pictured) comments: ‘The Aquila team has been a fantastic addition to our business and I am excited about the opportunity that combining our capabilities brings to our clients’ transformation programmes. The integration of our data analytics business has transformed the service we offer, bringing leading edge data science, AI and automation to help a wide range of clients stay ahead of the fast changing technology landscape’.

With more than 9,600 employees – around a fifth of the total for its parent dentsu international, Merkle is headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, with 50+ additional offices throughout the US, EMEA and APAC.
