The Aje Design Team is looking for an experienced Junior Designer to join us in our collaborative and creative design space in Paddington, Sydney.

The Junior Designer role is relied on as a key member of design to help support for all Aje Designers on all aspects of the role, creatively and administratively. You will be the go-to for ensuring each collection and season is delivered on time and to the Aje quality.
This role is based at our Sydney Head Office and reporting directly to the General Manager of Design, Design Room Manager and Designers.
Working as a part of the Design team, your tasks will include:
- Work closely with Designers and General Manager of Design in the implementation and development of their designs
- Oversee CADs and cover pages for all styles, ensuring all information is correct updated throughout development and for final production handover.
- Updating seasonal development map to be sure all information is correct and current so that the wider team and business can use this as a reference
- Communicating lab dip/strike-off feedback to suppliers and requesting additional submissions in accordance with critical path
- Oversee design assistants and ensure their work is correct to the designers’ expectations, clear, and in line with critical path
- Manage all fabric/embroideries/trims developments across all RTW categories wovens, knit, denim, jersey, fleece – in accordance with critical path, cost and pricing expectations and Aje quality standards
- Keeping up to date research on trends, design and the marketplace, and tailoring your research into designs that adhere to the Aje brand vision.
- Specific research as directed by Designers which could incorporate any RTW elements across all categories in order to assist them and add your personal touch to the season

- Able to work independently, and see new opportunities to assist designers and develop their own responsibilities within the team
Your past experience must include:
- 3 years previous experience as a design assistant or junior designer, preferably at an equivalent type of designer brand
- Experience working in a design team with proven responsibilities and skill level above a design assistant
- Working in a fast-paced environment across a variety of RTW categories- leather, denim, wovens, knits etc
- Experience with design software and graphics editing
- Familiarity with design techniques – prototypes
- Experienced in working in a fast-paced design environment, managing multiple seasons in tandem
- Experience in working with offshore teams and suppliers is ideal
- Experience in knitwear, denim, cut and sew, active wear and swimwear within a contemporary or luxury fashion capacity would be a well-regarded
