UPDATED, July 10: The Arlington School Committee is conducting a search for a new superintendent, who will join us when Superintendent Kathleen Bodie retires at the end of the 2020-21 school year.
The Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC), on behalf of the Arlington School Committee, is conducting another series of focus groups to prepare for our search for a new superintendent.
The purpose of the focus groups is to prepare a profile of the district and community that will be a resource for the search committee and potential candidates. The district anticipates advertising the position in September, with the goal of selecting a candidate by the end of the calendar year.
There will be three general focus groups for Arlington residents. They are scheduled to occur:
- Monday, July 20, at 10 a.m.
- Wednesday, July 22, at 4 p.m.
- Monday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m
There will be focus groups for specific groups of stakeholders. Two have already been scheduled to occur:
- Monday, July 20, at 7 p.m. – Recent AHS Alumni
- Wednesday, July 22, at 8 p.m. – Town Meeting Members
- The Arlington Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC) has been invited to host a focus group. Plans are also being made to conduct a focus group with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
