Griffith has moved up 17 spots in the latest edition of the world’s leading university ranking.

The University earned an overall score of 34.1 and a global rank of 303rd in the QS World University Rankings released today by global higher education analysts QS Quacquarelli Symonds, which ranks the world’s top 1000 universities.

Professor Carolyn Evans

Griffith University Vice Chancellor and President Professor Carolyn Evans said the improved ranking was a strong result in what had been a challenging and unprecedented start to the academic year.

“To move from a QS World University Ranking of 320th to 303rd position in the last twelve months is a great result for Griffith,” Professor Evans said.

“The University has also been ranked in the top 300 for academic reputation (288th) and in the top 200 for citations per faculty (185th), which is a key indicator of the impact of our research.

“Griffith is a progressive and highly respected university dedicated to learning, research and innovation.

“The University continues to build its brand and reputation globally, and I’m pleased to be able to say that since 2014, the University has moved up 38 places in the QS World University rankings.”

To determine the annual rankings, QS uses six indicators, being academic and employer reputation, citations per faculty, faculty/student ratio, international faculty ratio and international student ratio.

Griffith University is one of 36 universities represented from Australia and one of 314 from Asia Pacific in this year’s ranking.

Across the Asia Pacific, 118 universities improved their rankings in the past year, the rankings for 83 universities went down and 62 universities received the same ranking as the previous year.
