LAFAYETTE and WHEAT RIDGE — Sporian Microsystems, Inc. in Lafayette and Wheat Ridge-based TDA Research Inc. each recently received $300,000 in Small Business Innovation Research funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to be used to develop and commercialize environmental protection products.
Sporian will use the funds to help create “a low-cost system to identify harmful components in construction and demolition materials,” according to an EPA news release. TDA will “develop a non-toxic paint stripper that is methylene chloride-free.”
EPA Regional Administrator Gregory Sopkin said in a prepared statement: “These Colorado small businesses are leaders in developing innovative solutions to pressing environmental concerns, These EPA funds will help these companies develop products that improve human health and the environment, including safer paint removers and a detection tool that will improve construction waste management and recycling.”
