Students, teachers, parents and public — everyone’s invited to attend

What characteristics, skills or attributes should the next Superintendent of Schools have?

That is the question the School Committee is asking and it needs the public’s help in figuring it out. To that end the committee will be holding a series of focus groups on Monday, Oct. 28 and Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019

The School Committee has engaged the services of the New England School Development Council (NESDEC) search consultant Carolyn Burke to guide them through the search process including the focus groups.

According to the committee, “Focus groups are important because they are designed to obtain the input of teachers, support staff, administrators, School Committee members, parents and community members and other town officials about the attributes, experience, and knowledge they believe the new superintendent should possess. The focus groups also provide an opportunity for participants to identify immediate tasks upon which the new superintendent should concentrate.”

Each focus group session will last approximately 1- 1 ½ hours. The schedule is as follows:

Monday October 28, 2019:

10 a.m. – 11 a.m.: School administrators– location MHS Principal’s conference room

12 noon-1 p.m.: Students– location MHS Principal’s conference room

Additionally, an on-line survey will be available for parents, staff and the community input to share further thoughts or if they are unable to attend the focus groups. The survey information will be distributed separately in the coming week.
