On Friday, Jan. 24, two finalists were chosen for a second round of interviews on Jan. 27 and 28. These finalists are Jim Wagner, Johnson County School District Superintendent, and Matt Grose, Superintendent of Deer River and Nashwauk-Keewatin School Districts. Each of the candidates has extensive superintendent experience.
The two finalists will each participate in a full day of interviews next week, meeting in focus groups with principals, district administration, high school students, teachers, support staff, and community members, before a final interview each evening with the School Board.
Community members are invited to interview each candidate at 5 p.m. in the Reif Center on Monday, Jan. 27 and Tuesday, Jan. 28. Stakeholders will have the opportunity to spend an hour with each candidate asking questions about their background, experience, and teaching philosophy. Feedback forms from focus group participants will be provided to School Board members each evening and will help the Board make a final decision on Tuesday evening.
