Meliá is seventeenth in the ranking of Spanish companies in all industries for Corporate Governance and Responsibility commitments and performance, a key area in company strategy.
The independent MERCO Monitor for 2018 rates the leading Spanish hotel company in first place for Corporate Responsibility in the Hospitality and Tourism industry and in seventeenth place among companies in all industries.
The Monitor collects, analyses and compares evaluations by stakeholders in each of the companies in line with ISO 20252 and the ICC/ESOMAR Code of Conduct, measuring variables such as transparency and good governance, ethical corporate behaviour with the country, the community and industry development, workplace quality, environmental commitments and respect for consumers, among others.
For the Executive Vice President and CEO of Meliá, Gabriel Escarrer, “The Merco Responsibility and Corporate Governance ranking is an important indicator of our performance in all of these fundamental areas in which our recently completed Strategic Plan has made important progress over the last three years. Maintaining or improving our position in the ranking, developing new priorities and commitments, is an important stimulus for improvement for us every year”
