LOS ALAMITOS, CA – In all the hubbub of December festivities, I forgot that there’s another holiday that immediately follows right after the new year begins. The Lunar New Year is almost upon us! In my family, that means there’s snacks to be bought, crisp money to be obtained, and family feasts to be had. So to get retail folks ready for the event, Frieda’s Specialty Produce developed a customized Asian vegetable program just in time for Lunar New Year.

A lot of the usual fare seems to be pretty normal to me, but apparently C+R Research found that 34 percent of shoppers are intimidated by Asian vegetables. However, 61 percent of shoppers are more interested in cooking Asian food at home now than ever before. The press release also stated that C+R Research found 56 percent of shoppers say that they want to be able to shop for Asian produce in their regular grocery store. Frieda’s in-store signage and educational packaging help smooth that uncertainty, allowing both retailers and consumers to profit with delicious new cuisine ideas to explore.
