Arnott’s is set to launch a new range of Shapes with two classic Australian flavours just in time for the barbecue season.

The brand has transformed the country’s iconic sausage sizzle and meat pie into a perfect blend of savoury, seasoned biscuits.

Shapes Sausage Sizzle offers a charred beef, smokey and savoury barbecue bite, with notes of baked bread, caramelised onion, and sweetness from the BBQ sauce.

While the Shapes Meat Pie has a sweet tomato, rich gravy beef, with subtle pepper and onion notes, layered onto buttery pastry.

The new Shapes Aussie Legends range, retailed at $3.20 each, will hit supermarket shelves next week.

‘There’s no question that Aussies love a meat pie and a sausage sizzle,’ Arnott’s Marketing Manager Shannon Wright said.

‘After the overwhelming response we received for Shapes VEGEMITE and Cheese last year, we wanted to expand our Shapes Aussie Legends range with more of these tastes Australians love.

‘Shapes means Flavour You Can See, and the new Aussie Legends range will be hard to miss.’

The new flavours were supported by consumer research, which found nearly half (48 per cent) of all Australians have had a snag or pie in the last month.

Up to 63 per cent of Aussies preferred to have tomato sauce with their pies, while 31 per cent enjoy their pastry with barbecue sauce.

Meanwhile, 49 per cent of Aussies preferred onions on their sausage sizzle and just three per cent of the country liked to eat their snags with no toppings at all.

New South Wales (30 per cent) and Queensland (29 per cent) residents are not terribly keen on mustard, while Victoria (60 per cent) and South Australia (61 per cent) residents rate tomato sauce as their number one topping.

The statistics, conducted by YouGov between November 29 and December 1, was based on a survey of 1,042 Australians over the age of 18.
