The Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) program is seeking volunteers to participate in a series of focus groups this fall to help evaluate new assistive telecommunications technologies. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate several new devices that are under consideration for the MAT program, which distributes State-provided telecommunications equipment to qualified Marylanders who have difficulty using a telephone.

Ten individuals are needed from each of the following community groups:

  • People who are Deaf
  • People who are hard of hearing
  • People who are DeafBlind
  • People who are Blind or have low vision
  • People with difficulty speaking
  • People with limited mobility
  • People with cognitive difficulties

Through these focus groups, the MAT program hopes to further understand the various needs of the community and continue to improve its services and variety of offerings to meet the needs of every individual.

Anyone who is interested in participating in a focus group should please contact Kevin Steffy, MAT program manager, at either 410-246-4418 or [email protected]
for available dates, times and locations.
