SHOKAN, N.Y. — Applications for stream management projects in the Ashokan Reservoir watershed are now being accepted by the Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program (AWSMP).
Local, county, state or federal government agencies; 501(c)3 organizations, secondary school districts, colleges and universities are eligible. For-profit groups are eligible only in the Research, Assessment, and Monitoring categories.
The funding is available for priority projects to enhance stream stability and improve water quality, improve or protect public stream infrastructure, enhance stream access and recreation, plan and implement flood hazard mitigation, increase the public’s knowledge and skills for stream stewardship, and also improve ecosystems and aquatic habitat.
The application deadline is July 8. Application materials and additional information is available at ashokanstreams.org/projects-funding
The New York City Department of Environmental Protection provides the funding for the AWSMP and is administered by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County. The final round of funding for 2020 will be announced in mid-September.
