The Columbia Public Schools Board of Education is getting ready to review elementary areas to see if any changes are needed due to population growth.
In an email to parents, the district said that it wants input from the school community. The district is asking members of the community to volunteer to participate in focus groups.
The focus groups will be held virtually on July 8 at the following times:
- 9 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. for parents
- 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. for CPS employees
- 2 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. for parents
- 4:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. for the community-at-large (non-parents)
In the email, the district said anyone wanting to be part of a focus group should submit their name. The district will then select participants at random. The district said it would notify the chosen participants by June 24.
In 2019, the Board of Education approved new attendance areas for middle school and high school. During that work, leaders determined there was a need to review elementary attendance areas.
