Clinica Family Health Services, an organization that provides medical services to low income people, has received nearly $126,000 from the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act that was signed March 6 by President Trump.
According to a news release from Rep. Joe Neguse’s office, Clinica Family Health Services can use the funds to provide testing, screen patients, purchase medical supplies and expand its ability to perform remote appointments.
Clinica has locations in Boulder, Lafayette, Thornton, Westminster and Denver.
The release noted that the law passed earlier this month included $1 billion in funding for “healthcare preparedness and community health centers and procurement of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies.”
The law was passed by Congress after the Trump administration requested $2.5 billion in emergency funding to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The number was negotiated up to $8.3 billion that was earmarked for uses including public health and research.
