The COVID-19 vaccine is cause for optimism that the crisis caused by the pandemic may soon ease. In this program, Sharon Lamberton of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and Emily Dickens from SHRM will provide an overview of the research and development underway by the biopharmaceutical community for COVID treatments and vaccines, as well as next steps as dissemination of vaccines begins.
About the Presenters:
Sharon Lamberton is the deputy vice president in state government advocacy for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), a trade association that represents 34 member companies that develop brand name medicines. She provides clinical expertise to executive leadership regarding clinical and medical policy and frequently testifies at state hearings on industry issues, including prescription drug abuse/misuse, adherence/care coordination and value and innovation of the industry’s latest treatments.
Emily M. Dickens, J.D., is SHRM’s corporate secretary, chief of staff and head of government affairs. She is the executive responsible for coordinating staff to implement the CEO’s vision, the liaison for the SHRM Board and subsidiary boards, and executive with oversight of external partnerships, public policy, government affairs and administrative services. Dickens is an attorney with significant and progressive experience in government, higher education and the non-profit sector
